Project:

Using this module, St. George wanted to train employees in how to use the new software that was being implemented. The courseware will be taken by employees prior to attendance at a facilitator led session. We often find that this usage of computer-assisted learning, (initial training via computer followed by a facilitator-led course) proved the most efficient and effective blend of training methods. Facilitators find that their trainees come into the training room with an already solid grip on the basics, making the training more enjoyable for everyone.

Our Brief

We were required to provide St. George Bank with a program that met the following requirements...

  • train the employees in the 'why's' - as with all software systems, employee attitudes are dependent upon their understanding of the big picture - how the new software will affect their jobs.
  • simulate the software - give employees a simulation of the software, so that they learn how to use it in real situations.
  • provide detailed feedback - when employees get something right let them know it; when they get something wrong, let them know it.
  • assessment - no formal assessment will be given.
  • installation - installation on the computer network, or on standalone machines - no audio or video required.

Interesting Bits:

  • work situation driven - all situations in the courseware are driven by real customer scenarios.
  • review jumps - once employees have completed a lesson, they are able to jump directly to specific areas within that lesson.
  • interface - the red leather background was a digitised leather jacket owned by one of the authors, (it's amazing what you can fit in a flatbed scanner.)
