Advanced by Name, Advanced by Nature
We have done a number of interesting projects with Advance Bank. They were one of the first banks in Australia to really see and embrace the advantages of using computer-assisted learning. Some of the programs that we worked on with them were:
- Introduction to Residential Lending
- Introduction to Financial Statements
- Self-Employed Lending
- Privacy in Banking
- The VISA Jeopardy Game (joint project)
- Advance Office Banking Demonstration Diskette
More on Privacy in Banking
Develop an interactive training module which provides employees with a detailed grasp of how the Privacy Act and other banking legislation affect their work, and their dealings with customers.
Our Brief:
• Make it simple to use, make it fun - since the module will have to be taken by so many different types of employees, make it easy to move around in, teach them some of the interesting aspects of Privacy.
• The legal side - teach the legal side of this, but in a way that the average person can understand - no legal language.
• Hypertext - provide the ability for employees to click on key words within the module and get a "pop up" definition of the term.
• Provide different "What if? streams" for employees, depending upon their jobs - because employees come from such a different set of jobs, give them work scenarios which utilise work situations they will recognise - e.g. lenders should be handled differently from telebankers.
• Assessment & certificate - provide a formal assessment at the end of the module, and a certificate the employees can print.
Interesting Bits:
• Our favourite area - working with Jan Bayliss (as always!)
• Privacy Hall of Shame - we teach what can happen to those who have transgressed the laws of privacy.
More on Advance Office Banking Demonstration Diskette
Develop a demonstration diskette which will engender interest in Advance Office Banking, a PC banking product developed by Advance Bank. The disk will be given out by branch lending managers when customers request, as well as over the Advance Bank web site.
Our Brief:
• Marketing content must be simple to understand - create a simple structure which will let prospects investigate the product in any way they choose.
• The software product's features and actual operation should be demonstrated - the demonstration must clearly state the product's featuers as well as simulate its operations in situations the customer would understand.
• Demonstration should have a "feature recycling" ability - the demonstration should use a graphical device to show prospects their progress through the module. When they exit, it should gracefully remind them of what they haven't yet seen, and provide a summary way for them to get it. A product benefits sheet should be offered to be printed.
• Demonstration must simulate the software and provide a guided tour - provide prospects who are viewing the demonstration with an opportunity to participate in a guided tour of the product to see how different parts of it work.
• Demonstration should track areas of interest - as prospects move around the disk, their "visitations" should be tracked, as well as the time they spend in each area - this should be returned to the Bank (at the prospects' permission) for analysis.
• Demonstration should have a "What if" Cost/Benefits calculator - the prospect should be able to enter their current banking parameters, and have an interactive calculator calculate whether Advance Office Banking will save them money. The results should be printable. The internal cost parameters should be easily maintainable by a bank administrator, without having to repackage the module.
• Demonstration must provide ability for customers to order - the demonstration must give prospects the ability to order the product by offering a simple fax form which they can complete and print.
Interesting Bits:
• Our favourite area - working with Chris, Melissa and Rahn – this was a fun project!
• Demonstration fits on a single 1.44MB floppy disk - the entire demonstration can be installed from a single diskette.
• Cost/benefit calculator - tells a prospect whether the Advance Office Banking product will actually save them any money.
• Feature tracking - a great way to ensure prospects see what you want them to see.
• Behaviour tracking - if the prospect allows it, their visitation information is returned to the bank for analysis concerning which areas of the product are of most interest.
