Project:
HCoA wanted an interactive orientation module - which staff and nurses could take as part of their overall orientation training. Initially delivered on CD-ROM, the product had to be capable of delivery on their burgeoning Intranet.
Our Brief:
- what does Health Care of Australia want with an interactive orientation program? - HCoA, a Mayne Nickless company, wanted to be able to deliver orientation training to its employees at the time they needed it!
HCoA had several goals for the project, the most important of which were:
- learn from the source -- provide new starters and existing employees (they need it too!) with an interactive experience learning from key employees and managers in the company -- they simply have to be able to select questions and learn!
- learn about the issues that can burn you -- ensure that nurses learn about the "hot stove" issues -- the key safety issues -- needlestick injuries, health & safety, infection control, safe handling and disposal, professional duty, etc.
Interesting Bits:
- this project was a very interesting one, with several new training techniques and a fabulous interface which we think really captures the HCoA image and culture...
- there's a lot of learning going on here -- from presentations of key business areas from HCoA's key personnel -- to a fun bit of opinions about the popular and not-so-popular medical TV dramas -- to "memory pads" for the areas with reams of information (company benefits, responsibilities, and useful hot stove issues) -- an impromptu phone call to Perth to get some insight on a national program -- and an audio interview in the back of a cab at the airport in Melbourne!
